Birds Nest in our Fuchsia Start date 5/28/05
|
On May 28, 2005 two birds started to build a nest in one
of our Fuchsia Baskets hanging on our front deck.
We first thought they where Wrens. But then we are not
bird people. So what do we know.
Turns out they are "Oregon Junco's", or otherwise known
as "The Snow Bird". You know, the bird Ann Murray sang
about. Or I think it was she that sang about the SNOW
BIRD ! !
Well, on 5/28/05 they started building their nest.
On 5/31/05 the first egg appeared in the nest.
June 1st saw the second egg and on 6/2/05 we had 3
eggs.
Here are some photos of the nest, the bird and her eggs.
This is a fun Study of Nature.
I will add photo's as they are deemed necessary .
Here is the nest
being built.
--------------------->
This was on
5/28/05.
I had to raise it up
and put some rocks
under it so the nest
would not get wet
when we water the
Fuchsias.
And the
FIRST EGG.
We found
this egg on
the morning
of 5/31/05
<---------------
You can
compare the
egg's size to
my fingernail
size. My nails
are right at
1/2" wide.
TWO EGGS.
TWO EGGS.
WOW
This is fun to
watch
develop.
----------------->
Can't wait for
the babies to
hatch.
This is the result of
MOMMIES hard
work this morning,
6/2/05.
She has added one
more egg to the nest.

This is the MOMMY bird. She is watching me very close. This was taken June 2, 2005 Cool huh?

June 3rd, and left June 3rd, and left about 1:pm . about 1:pm .
When she departed, she had added yet ANOTHER egg. Yup, now we have 4 possible fledglings. ---------------------------->
