"OUR 64 Day Tour Down-Under"
February 12 to March 4, 2006
This is the Kauri tree named  "Tane Mahuta".
It is one BIG tree. Read the plaque below for a description &
history.
A "Silver Fern Tree"  & the shadow it cast on the roadway.  I think the shadow
is cool.
2/12/06 and we see our first Beach, just outside downtown
Auckland.
Both boys are checkin' out the sand.
                                                                      Yea, right.
The same day,
Clint walked
out to & back
from the rocky point
right below this
text area. He found
some small caves as
he walked around the
end of the cove

First night we camped at Matakohe.  Went to
the Kauri Lumber Museum. This is a photo of
some Kauri Gum. The sap that seeped out of a
tree and solidified
like Amber.  Beautiful .
On 2/13/06 Kevan went
snorkeling for the first time at
Hatfield Beach & found some
interesting shells.
This is just North of Auckland
Sand Dunes at Hokianga Harbor on the Mangamuka
River. The body of water in the top of the photo is the
Tasman Sea.              OZ is on the other side.
Steam powered launch leaving the dock in Kerikeri.
The big white motor home is ours.
We are parked across the street from the "Stone Store",
where this photo was taken from the right hand window of
the Attic .
The Kemp House, built in 1822 and the Stone Store, built in
1834 are the two oldest buildings in New Zealand.
